Submitting your passport in Cameroon: VAC appointment required from 12 October 2026

From Monday 12 October 2026, you can only hand in your passport in person at the Canada Visa Application Centre (VAC) if you have an appointment. You book it in advance, before going to the centre.

The notice is on VFS Global's Canada page for Cameroon, in the passport submission section.

What changes on 12 October 2026

The page puts it plainly: from that date, you will need to book an appointment to submit your passport. The rule covers in-person submission, when you go to the centre yourself with your passport. If you were planning to go to the centre that day or later, make sure you book this appointment.

Who is affected

This concerns people whom IRCC has asked for their passport and who plan to hand it in at the VAC in person.

Don't confuse this appointment with the biometrics appointment, where you give your fingerprints and photo. Here, you are only handing in your passport. Biometrics is a separate step, which we explain in our article on the visitor visa: /en/article/visa-visiteur-canada-cameroun-prix-delai-biometrie

What to do

Book the appointment before you travel. The booking link is in that same passport submission section, on VFS Global's page.

If you live far from Yaoundé, in Douala or Garoua for example, wait until you have the appointment date before planning the trip. Book first, travel second.

Going in person is not the only option. The same section also provides for submission by mail, which means sending your passport by courier. It spares you the trip to Yaoundé just to hand it in. This option has its own instructions, given on the same page: read them to the end before you send anything.

A notice to watch: VAC payment

At the top of the same page, a banner announces that new details on VAC payment will be available soon. As of 7 October 2026, the notice does not say when these details will appear, or what they will contain. Check the page again before your appointment to see whether they have been posted.

Where the VAC is

The Canada Visa Application Centre is in Yaoundé, on the 5th floor of the Ekang building, opposite the Palais des Sports, in Warda. It is open Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm.

The address and a Google Maps link are also in the Addresses & directories tab of our Prepare your application page: /en/check-list.html#adresses

Does someone close to you also need to hand in their passport? Send them this article before they set off.
