Before you book your test
Two IELTS exist. Only one counts for your project
The costliest mistake is made before you even start revising: sitting the wrong version. Both carry the same name, cost the same and are booked in the same place. Not sure? Write to us before you pay your registration fee: it is a two-minute question, and it saves you from resitting the test.
General Training
This is the version Canadian immigration asks for under the economic programmes: Express Entry, Provincial Nominee Programs, permanent residence.

Academic
The version universities and some professional bodies require. It measures your ability to read and write in an academic register.
